The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "2023 Communication Industry Statistical Bulletin" today. The report shows that by the end of 2023, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies will reach 636 million, with a net increase of 46.66 million throughout the year.

Among them, users with an access rate of 100Mbps and above were 601 million, with a net increase of 47.56 million throughout the year, accounting for 94.5% of the total number of users, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the end of the previous year; Users with an access rate of 1000Mbps and above were 163 million, with a net increase of 71.53 million throughout the year, accounting for 25.7% of the total number of users, an increase of 10.1 percentage points from the end of the previous year.

Fixed Internet broadband access services continue to accelerate in rural areas. By the end of 2023, the total number of rural broadband users nationwide reached 192 million, with a net increase of 15.57 million throughout the year, an increase of 8.8% from the previous year, and the growth rate was 1.3 percentage points higher than that of urban broadband users.

Looking at it by region, by the end of 2023, the number of broadband access users with an access rate of 1000Mbps and above in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions reached 72.26 million, 41.33 million, 43.31 million, and 6.37 million respectively, accounting for the proportion of the total number of fixed broadband access users in the region. They were 27.2%, 25.6%, 25.3%, and 17% respectively, an increase of 9.5, 11, 10.6, and 8.8 percentage points from the previous year. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions, the number of broadband access users with an access rate of 1000Mbps and above reached 13.17 million and 31.7 million respectively, accounting for 27.5% and 25.3% of the total number of fixed broadband access users in the region, an increase of 10 and 8.4 percentage points from the previous year.

In terms of broadband networks, in 2023, the newly built optical cable line length was 4.738 million kilometers, and the total length of optical cable lines nationwide reached 64.32 million kilometers; among them, the lengths of long-distance optical cable lines, local network relay optical cable lines, and access network optical cable lines were 1.14 million, 23.1 million, and 40.08 million kilometers respectively. By the end of 2023, the number of Internet broadband access ports reached 1.136 billion, a net increase of 64.86 million from the end of the previous year.

Among them, the number of fiber access (FTTH/O) ports reached 1.094 billion, a net increase of 69.15 million from the end of the previous year, and the proportion increased from 95.7% at the end of the previous year to 96.3%. By the end of 2023, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capabilities reached 23.02 million, a net increase of 7.792 million from the end of the previous year.

In addition, in terms of mobile networks, by the end of 2023, the total number of mobile communication base stations nationwide reached 11.62 million, of which 5G base stations were 3.377 million, accounting for 29.1% of the total number of mobile base stations, an increase of 7.8 percentage points from the end of the previous year.
