Promoting the allocation of new mid-band 6G spectrum resources in most countries in the world. On December 25, China's WRC-23 radio spectrum affairs envoy and deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Zhang Yunming recently accepted an exclusive interview with the media, saying that the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) in 2023 achieved fruitful results in four aspects. The Chinese delegation sent more than 200 experts to actively contribute Chinese wisdom. Under China's main promotion, most countries in the world have newly allocated 700MHz bandwidth of mid-band 6G spectrum resources in the 6425-7125MHz band.It is understood that the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2023 will be held in Dubai, UAE from November 20 to December 15, 2023, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union. As the most important international conference for the legislation of the use of global radio frequency and satellite orbit resources, the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2023 has more than 3,900 representatives from 163 member states.
Zhang Yunming said that after four weeks of hard negotiations, the conference completed a new round of revisions to the International Telecommunication Union's "Radio Regulations" and achieved fruitful results in four aspects.
First, to support the development of 6G, under China's main promotion, most countries in the world have newly allocated 700MHz bandwidth of mid-band 6G spectrum resources in the 6425-7125MHz band.
Second, the Beidou short message system joined the global maritime distress and safety system and achieved phased progress, creating favorable conditions for the early opening of the global maritime distress and safety system service by the Beidou short message system and enhancing the international maritime distress rescue and safety communication capabilities.
Third, the international rules for using and managing satellite frequency and orbit resources have been continuously improved. The conference formed a series of new resolutions on low-orbit satellite orbit capacity, large-scale low-orbit constellation phased deployment, consultation mechanism for protecting geostationary orbit satellites, Ku and Ka-band mobile earth stations, and inter-satellite link frequency allocation, etc., to promote the more fair, reasonable and efficient use of satellite frequency and orbit resources.
Fourth, under China's active promotion, the conference set up mobile phone direct satellite and S-band non-terrestrial network frequency use topics for the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2027, to meet the needs of 6G integrated international mobile communication development; set up lunar communication, radio astronomy quiet zone protection, satellite earth exploration and other scientific research topics, to promote satellite remote sensing and space science development.
Zhang Yunming pointed out that at this conference, the Chinese delegation sent more than 200 experts, including the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, to participate in the conference discussion in an all-round and in-depth manner, actively contributing Chinese wisdom on the international stage, and countries around the world widely recognized their outstanding performance. As the competent department representing China in participating in the activities of the International Telecommunication Union, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will actively implement the conference results, fulfill international obligations, and better serve economic and social development; at the same time, it will continue to support the work of the International Telecommunication Union, actively participate in the next cycle of related research activities, and make greater contributions to the fair, reasonable and efficient development and utilization of global radio frequency and satellite orbit resources.
